Hypothetical Performance Disclosure: Hypothetical performance results have many inherent limitations, some of which are described below. no representation is being made that any account will or is likely to achieve profits or losses similar to those shown; in fact, there are frequently sharp differences between hypothetical performance results and the actual results subsequently achieved by any particular trading program. One of the limitations of hypothetical performance results is that they are generally prepared with the benefit of hindsight. In addition, hypothetical trading does not involve financial risk, and no hypothetical trading record can completely account for the impact of financial risk of actual trading. for example, the ability to withstand losses or to adhere to a particular trading program in spite of trading losses are material points which can also adversely affect actual trading results. There are numerous other factors related to the markets in general or to the implementation of any specific trading program which cannot be fully accounted for in the preparation of hypothetical performance results and all which can adversely affect trading results.

A clean breakout setup around a key resistance level leads to a nice first trade, but the market quickly shifts into a much choppier environment. In this live futures trading session, I walk through why I was willing to anticipate a breakout, how I managed the position once it triggered, and why I switched over to smaller MNQ contracts later in the morning.

As the session progressed, price action became increasingly erratic, creating the type of market where every move looked tempting but very few offered a true edge. Rather than forcing trades, I explain why recognizing a 50/50 environment is just as important as finding high-probability setups. Sometimes the best trade is simply knowing when to stop.

If you're interested in learning more about futures trading, prop firms, trade management, and the importance of only trading when you actually have an edge, this live session offers plenty of real-time insights into the decision-making process.

I started the morning with a small overnight profit already on the account, showcasing one of the biggest advantages of trading futures: the market is open 23 hours a day, six days a week. That flexibility allows me to find trading opportunities outside of normal stock market hours, making futures an attractive option for traders with full-time jobs or busy schedules.

Once the session got underway, I looked to capitalize on a sharp pullback by buying into support. The first trade worked exactly as planned, producing a quick scalp, although in hindsight I exited much earlier than the market ultimately moved. I then attempted to catch another pullback, but price missed my limit order by the smallest of margins before exploding higher without me. It was one of those painfully close moments every trader experiences—an incredible move that I had anticipated but couldn't participate in because my order never filled.

Rather than letting the frustration completely derail my decision-making, I explain why I've learned to laugh in moments like these. It's not about ignoring mistakes or pretending they don't matter; it's about preventing a frustrating situation from turning into emotional trading. That mindset became a major theme throughout the video as I worked through the disappointment of missing such a significant move.

Later in the session, I found another opportunity by shorting a bounce and managed to recover with another quick scalp. While the trade helped finish the morning on a positive note, it couldn't completely erase the sting of the missed setup. Still, it's an honest reminder that even when your analysis is correct, execution and fills are part of trading, and sometimes the market simply doesn't cooperate.

Throughout the video, I also discuss why I trade futures through a prop firm, emphasizing the importance of protecting personal capital while still benefiting from the leverage and opportunity futures provide. Overall, this session serves as a lesson in emotional control, accepting missed opportunities, and remembering that sometimes the healthiest response to a frustrating trade is simply to laugh, reset, and move on.

I kicked off the morning already in the green thanks to a few overnight futures trades, highlighting one of the biggest advantages of the futures market: it's open 23 hours a day, six days a week. That flexibility allows me to trade outside of normal stock market hours, making it a great option for people with busy schedules or full-time jobs.

After scanning the markets, I noticed an unusually strong move in gold. Even though I don't trade gold very often, the setup caught my attention. I explain how futures aren't limited to stock indexes—you can trade everything from gold and oil to coffee, cattle, and other commodities. I took advantage of the overextended move by entering a short position on gold, scaling out of the trade as price moved in my favor and locking in a quick $500+ gain.

From there, I shifted my attention back to the Nasdaq futures, looking for long opportunities after a pullback. I managed multiple positions, took partial profits, and remained mindful of the increased volatility that comes with the 9:30 a.m. ET stock market open. Rather than getting greedy, I chose to manage risk carefully and captured another pair of quick scalps that added nicely to the morning's profits.

Throughout the video, I also discuss why I trade futures through a prop firm instead of risking large amounts of my own capital. While futures offer tremendous upside and fast-moving opportunities, they can move just as quickly against you, making proper risk management an essential part of long-term success.

Overall, it was a productive session featuring trades across multiple futures markets, disciplined trade management, and a good reminder that sometimes the best opportunities come from simply staying alert and being willing to trade whatever market presents the highest-probability setup.

I started the day with a small overnight profit already on the account, thanks to one of the biggest advantages of trading futures: the market is open 23 hours a day, six days a week. I explain why that flexibility can be a great fit for traders who have full-time jobs or busy schedules and can't always trade during normal stock market hours.

My primary focus during the session was watching the 21 EMA for a potential short setup. I initially had the right idea and even had an order sitting at my planned entry, but while increasing my position size, the market reached my level without me. Frustrated by the missed opportunity, I chased the trade anyway—a mistake that still resulted in a small profit but wasn't an execution I was proud of.

Later, I shifted my attention to a textbook support-and-resistance setup. After price broke above the 200-period moving average, I waited for a pullback into the level and bought the retest, capturing another solid scalp for roughly $700 after commissions. While the trade ultimately continued much higher after I exited, I was happy to take the base hit and stick with my trading plan rather than second-guessing the outcome through hindsight.

I also discuss another advantage of prop firm trading, including the ability to manage multiple accounts as part of an overall risk management strategy. To wrap things up, there was an unexpected behind-the-scenes moment when my recording software failed to pause properly, giving viewers a glimpse into the realities of recording live trading videos. Overall, it was a profitable session that reinforced the importance of patience, disciplined execution, and accepting that even good trades can leave money on the table.
